Our Dogs

Guarding my flock

Or at my side in time of need

Be on my lap

Or at my feet in times of sleep

You are my greatest friend

Logan

Logan with USAR helmet 10/01

Logan is 11 1/2  yrs old and now retired from a full career as a search and rescue dog.  She loves to spend time on our hobby farm herding chickens.   Her linage is 100% DDR East German, a grand daughter to Lord Gleisdreieck. At 8 weeks old she was chosen based on specific qualities to be a search dog.  She was the second dog certified by FEMA in Pennsylvania as a type 2 disaster dog; a certification she carried consistently her career as a FEMA dog. She was also certified as a wilderness search dog through the American Rescue Dog Association (ARDA) and various other search and rescue teams in Pennsylvania.  On September 11, 2001; Logan was one of the 4 canines of the Search Component that responded to NYC with Pennsylvania Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 1. Along with her handler, Rose and 72 members of the PATF1 team, they were on site in New York City the evening of 9/11 looking for survivors.  No survivors were ever found over the course of the nine days they worked at Ground Zero……..

Swift Journey My Friend........

Dozer

Dozer and Rose on rubble pile in New Jersey 12/01

Dozer was taken as a second hand dog, from owners who could not handle him.  He has tremendous drive and intensity and eagerness to please. His favorite toys are car tires (not on the car of course!) He is currently retired from search work due to injuries, having never reaching his full potential. Because of his non-dog aggressive nature, Dozer is used as part of the obedience class training program.  His comfort and attitude around other dogs makes him ideal to introduce other dogs in a positive non threatening manner.

Dozer passed away in September 2006. He was very special dog in many, many ways and has left a huge space in our lives.

Faza, born 3/02, is a Slovakian import with super temperament.  She is small, fast, extremely agile and intelligent. Her sire Czech Dosky Bady Ron IPO3 FH3 and Joko Durko IPO3 . One of her best features is a clear off and on switch that turns her instantly from relaxed to intense. Her ball drive and hunt drives are serious. She is an extremely independent worker and certified as a type 2 disaster dog for the FEMA program in February of 2005 and also achieved her Type 1 (Advanced) Certification in November 2005. She acquired Schutzhund titles, BH, Faza also received SchH2 title in October 2007, with pronounced in protection and overall good rating. She was 2nd place SchH2 dog in the competition at NiagraHundesport.  http://www.niagarahundesport.com/. In November 2007 she also received SchH3 title in Quebec under Judge Lance Collins, overall good rating and pronounced in protection.

Czibor is a littermate to Axel & Lahr (Sable) who we purchased in August 2005. He was originally to be placed in a Schutzhund or police working setting.  Due to his intense personality and attitude; we decided to keep in our home pack for more training. He is a small male, 65 lbs with excellent agility speed and intensity. He is extremely friendly, naturally dominant personality with lots of potential for work! In April 2007, Czibor got his Canine Good Neighbour certification from the CKC and Schutzhund BH title in May of 2007 at the Capital City Schutzhund trial near Toronto. In March of 2008 he also got a Rally Novice (RN) title.  Czibor is continuing towards Schutzhund titles and is also our foundation stud male.

Hardy

12/31/06 Hardy (first with ripped frisbee) and littermate Zorro, in chase mode frolic in the ice- our dogs get social time in packs together for normal social development and even more one on one time with us..

Hardy has lots of drive all the time on anything he can get a hold of ! His climbing and natural footing agility are amazing for a young dog. He is very friendly, confident and playful in all situations. He also has very high levels of persistence and hunt drives and is not easily distracted.

Hardy was originally to be sold for police work, but due to his wonderful natural footing and confidence; I am keeping for future certification as an Urban Search and Rescue dog.

Below are some videos of Hardy learning some foundations of disaster search work.

Shelly

Logan, Dozer & Shelly 12/25/2001

Shelly was my first German shepherd and search and rescue dog. She was trained back in 1984 for obedience and many disciplines of search and rescue, wilderness water and cadaver.  We started our career together and learned together. She enjoyed much success as a search dog and truly loved finding people and the fun of playing with them once they were found. She was a great consistent friend who helped me in my first obedience classes in Ontario. Shelly passed away in January of 2002. Of my three original USA dogs (shown above) she loved her new home and family the most. It is because of Shelly that I fell in love with this amazing breed that took me on the path of training, learning and “searching” that I have followed in my life.

Duke

Duke was a general patrol and narcotics dog for the City of Quinte West in Ontario and the Ontario Provincial Police. He was imported from Slovakia at 14 months old began his career as a police service dog in 1997. Duke served as a general patrol and narcotics dog until his passing in 2006.  During his long career Duke was responsible for finding criminals, lost people and many notable narcotics finds. “He was a pleasure to work with as a partner and is constantly missed”

Axel

Axel is a very powerful, young, large boned male at 98 lbs. He was the dominant male pup in his litter and was chosen for his characteristics for work potential.  As a puppy he genetically had pure naturally intense drives.  He is a very pleasant friendly fellow with a clear head and very stable nerves in all situations.

Temperament is everything !

Everyone seems to post pictures of their dogs with children to show great temperament.  Below is a series of photos I thought would be fun to show just what happens in between those “perfect shots” ! My great nephew Quentin really loves the dogs and rushed in to join a group picture with Faza, Hardy and Czibor. Looks like they were all having a lot of fun, I just wanted the four of them to hold still  !
